I just wrote about this book! I finished it last week. First, let me say that I LOVE CHARLES BAXTER and I loved Feast of Love. I have only recently discovered him--not sure where I've been--but I've devoured all his work in the past month or so. I think I've read 4 of his books in the last month! Seems a tiny bit obsessive.

The Soul Thief is dark. And it seems a bit complex (maybe too complex for what it is). I think I need to re-read it. That said, I did enjoy it. The characters are all complex and the writing is beautiful. But I do think I'm drawn to sad books. This one fits the bill.

P.S. The movie Feast of Love was so, so horrible. SO HORRIBLE.

The plot sounds interesting. I just saw the movie Feast of Love this weekend and it was pretty depressing but it got into my head and kept me up into the night thinking about some of the stories.
