Very big day for the EDIWTB blog today.
First, this blog was the featured blog today on TypePad, the company that hosts the blog. Thanks, Alysson at TypePad, for the excellent write-up! Check it out here: http://featured.typepad.com/blogs/2008/05/every-day-i-wri.html.
Second, Lisa over at the Books on the Brain blog asked me to write a guest post about book clubs. She posted it today here: http://lisamm.wordpress.com/2008/05/07/guest-post-in-praise-of-book-clubs-vol-3/.
Thanks to TypePad and Lisa/Books on the Brain for the great exposure!
Thanks for guest posting, Gayle! It's a great post.

Hey Gayle,
My mother forwarded me the link to your blog- nice work. I've been in a book group in Boston for over 10 years now and yes, I agree, sometimes it's not great to NOT be picking the books. Still, I really appreciate the relationships that I've developed with this group of people that I wouldn't have otherwise known.
curious to hear what you think of Matrimony. I finished it a few months ago; the author is a friend from my grad school days.
Hope you and the family are well! Rachel K.

Gayle,
I also read your post on Books On The Brain and as a member of a bookclub for 10+ years, I can relate.
Our club is hosted by the public library so sometimes we get folks that recommend a book and then never show up to read them. They are usually awful too. We remedied that by having one book selection meeting for the year. We choose all of our books during that one session. "Floaters" rarely show up for that.
I also mentioned your upcoming online book group in my blog. I just finished Matrimony and cannnot wait to discuss it.

Lisa - thanks for giving me the chance to post! I am enjoying the series a lot.
Rachel - great to hear from you! Funny about Josh Henkin - he and I have been emailing about you today!
Ti - I will wait to read your review until I've finished the book. Looking forward to the discussion!
